Q&A with Suparna Malhotra

Say hello to Suparna! Every now and then we’re fortunate to bring a truly global partner on board, and Suparna is exactly that – an executive coach who’s been helping founders and leaders across Fortune 100 companies step into their full confidence and authority. We’re delighted to welcome her. Get to know Suparna a little more in her own words below.

What’s your one line elevator pitch?
Executive coach and leadership expert. With over a decade coaching across Fortune 100 companies, I know exactly what it takes to silence the inner critic, step into your full potential, and lead with the confidence, authority and authenticity your next level demands.

Why are you passionate about what you do?
I live for that spark of realisation crossing the face of a small business owner – or indeed a corporate executive – who has finally stepped back from doing everything themselves and started trusting their team. That shift from doubt to confidence changes everything. The results my clients achieve is what continues to fuel my passion.

Who is your ideal customer?
Ideal Customer 1 – The Professional
Typically a woman, though not exclusively, working in a mid to senior role in a global organisation. She is accomplished, driven and widely respected, yet finds herself hitting a ceiling she cannot quite name.

She has no interest in playing politics, but recognises that leadership at the highest level requires a presence and authority she has not yet fully claimed. Having worked hard her whole career, she is ready to stop playing small and be fully visible.

Ideal Customer 2 — The Founder or Small Business Owner
Someone who built or runs their own business and finds themselves managing people, often without any formal leadership training. They are overwhelmed, doing everything themselves, and struggling to let go and trust others. They’re brilliant at what they do but hadn’t bargained on the emotional complexity of leading a team. They want to grow their business but know that will require them to grow as a leader.

What can Dapper clients expect in a discovery call with you?
A discovery call is a warm, relaxed conversation; a chance to understand where you are right now and where you would love to be.

I’ll ask you about your challenges, your desires, and what’s brought you to this point. And if you’re open to it, we might even dip our toes into a little coaching, so you get a genuine feel for what working with me is like.

My intention is always that you leave having discovered something new about yourself that you may not have uncovered alone – something that is yours to keep, regardless of what you decide next.

You are equally welcome to ask me anything: about my approach, my background, my experience, or anything else that helps you decide whether we are the right fit for each other.

Tell us a bit about your career to date?
My career spans over 25 years, with experience working in and with global organisations. Starting out in advertising as a young graduate, I later changed direction and created my own executive coaching practice — now 13 years old. Over that time I have worked with professionals across many industries, including finance, FMCG, tech and energy.

The focus has always remained on developing executives and leaders. As they grow in self-awareness, confidence and clarity, they also develop greater trust and stronger leadership skills. And with those, the ability to lead their teams more effectively.

After more than a decade of building my practice in London, I am now based in Dubai, continuing the same mission that has guided my work from the beginning.

What brings you joy/ energises you?
This question alone brings me joy! It gives me a moment to remember and appreciate everything that fills my life.

Music, first and foremost. Listening, losing myself in it, and whenever possible, experiencing it live. I’m a huge fan of pop music, the cheesier the better. Classical and opera are finding their place in my collection more and more.

Dancing comes a close second – no formal training, just me, my music and my moves.

Nature feeds my soul. The vibrant green of grass and trees is something I miss deeply about the UK, though the UAE has its own beauty waiting to be explored.

Art in all its forms speaks to me, from galleries and exhibitions to the theatre.

And then there is my work. My chosen second career. Coaching clients, delivering workshops, researching and presenting ideas. It energises me every single time.

Above all, it’s the people in my life: my family and friends.

What do you enjoy about collaborating with Dapper?
Since the very beginning of my practice, I have been fortunate to work with people I genuinely connect with. Working for myself means I have the privilege of choosing who I collaborate with, and alignment matters to me. Not just professionally, but personally.

Dapper came recommended by my own business coach, someone whose judgement I respect. From the start, I admired Dapper: the culture, the tone, the programmes, and the professionalism with a human touch.

I can’t wait to amplify the inner work Dapper does at that intersection of personal development and personal branding. My coaching helps clients do the deeper identity work: clearing the self-doubt, building confidence and developing real self-awareness, so that when it comes to expressing who they are in the world, it comes from a place of genuine authority

Tell us something not many people know about you?
My friends will definitely not believe this – but when I was a young child living in California, I used to climb trees.
