Q&A with Alan Parry

We’re thrilled to introduce a new strategic partner, Alan Parry from Alan Parry Fitness. Our co-founder Emma has trained with him for the past year and been so impressed with not only the results, but also his insights, friendly persona and great comms. He’s joining the team as a fitness consultant and sounding board for our clients. 

Alan will do a 30–minute consultation as part of our Dapper 9 journey, to unpack training challenges, goals and how to reach them. 

What’s your one-line elevator pitch?

I don’t see personal growth as something that fits in a catchy one-liner. It’s a constant decision to better yourself, to show up every day, and to embrace the hard work that comes with delayed gratification. It’s about building momentum and sticking to it, even when immediate results aren’t visible.

Why are you passionate about what you do?

I’m lucky to be in a career where I get to do what I love every day. Being active has always been a passion of mine, and helping others experience that same joy while improving their lives is incredibly rewarding. I love seeing clients achieve things they never thought possible and watching their confidence grow.

Who is your ideal customer?

My ideal customer is someone who recognises that lasting change comes from consistent effort. They’re committed to showing up, even when motivation is low, because they understand that the work they put in today is building a better future for themselves.

What can Dapper clients expect in a discovery call with you?

During the discovery call, we’ll explore your current lifestyle, including your eating habits, training routine, stress factors, and any limitations to training. Together, we’ll define your goals and create a training plan that’s sustainable for you.

Tell us a bit about your career to date.

I’ve been in the fitness industry for 14 years. After school, I pursued studies in biomechanics, kinesiology, sports science, and management. My career took a pivotal turn when I was approached by a training facility which offered me an opportunity to join their team. Six years later, I now proudly own and operate that very same facility, where I continue to help others achieve their fitness goals and better themselves.

What brings you joy and energises you?

I find joy in being active, whether it’s through sports or simply moving my body. Sharing meals with loved ones and spending time with my family are also big sources of energy and fulfillment for me.

What do you enjoy about collaborating with Dapper?

I really enjoy the Dapper mindset and the clarity of their goals. Being part of a team that focuses on improving all aspects of life allows us to empower individuals in a more holistic way. It’s rewarding to be part of a community that supports growth, both personally and professionally.

Tell us something not many people know about you?

I recently went through a major challenge when I severely injured my foot in a gym accident and had to undergo a big operation. I was out of action for over six months during a time when I was in peak training. It was an incredibly difficult period for me, as I couldn’t do any of the activities I love, including training. Rebuilding myself from injury and getting back to where I was became one of the biggest challenges I’ve faced. It truly brought me back in touch with how tough it can be to get your life back on track and the obstacles you have to overcome along the way.
